Male Health Clinic UK
Specialist Men's Health Treatments | Beeston, Nottingham
Male Health Clinic is a specialist private men’s health clinic based in Beeston, Nottingham. We provide evidence-based, non-invasive treatments for men’s health conditions that are frequently under-served by mainstream NHS services — including erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, chronic pelvic pain, hard flaccid syndrome, and post-prostate cancer rehabilitation.
Our clinic was founded by Stephen Carter, a specialist physiotherapist with over 15 years of clinical experience in men’s pelvic health. Every treatment programme is individually designed, clinically led, and delivered in a confidential, supportive environment.
We treat patients from across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Yorkshire, and the wider UK. Many patients travel to see us specifically because they have been unable to access effective treatment locally.

What Is a Male Health Clinic?
A male health clinic is a specialist healthcare facility that focuses exclusively on conditions affecting men’s physical health — particularly conditions related to sexual function, pelvic health, and urological wellbeing.
Unlike a GP surgery or general physiotherapy practice, a specialist male health clinic has in-depth expertise in conditions that are often poorly understood or inadequately treated in general healthcare settings. This includes conditions such as:
- Erectile dysfunction (ED) — difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection
- Peyronie’s disease — penile curvature caused by scar tissue
- Chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS) — persistent pelvic or perineal pain
- Hard flaccid syndrome — partial contraction of the penis when flaccid
- Pudendal neuralgia — nerve pain in the pelvic floor
- Prostate cancer rehabilitation — recovery support after treatment
- Sexual performance maintenance — proactive optimisation of sexual health
At Male Health Clinic, we go beyond symptom management. Our goal is to identify and address the root cause of each condition through targeted, evidence-based treatment — helping men achieve lasting improvements in their health and quality of life.
Men's Health Conditions We Treat
Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
Erectile dysfunction is one of the most common men’s health conditions in the UK, affecting an estimated millions of men across all age groups. It can have physical causes (reduced blood flow, nerve damage, hormonal factors) or psychological causes (stress, anxiety, depression) — and often a combination of both.
At Male Health Clinic, we treat the root cause of ED rather than managing symptoms with medication. Our primary treatment is focused shockwave therapy — a clinically proven, non-invasive approach that stimulates the growth of new blood vessels and nerve tissue in the penis. This directly addresses the vascular causes that underlie the majority of ED cases.
Our ED Rehabilitation Programme of 6 sessions starts from £1,500. See our Price Tariff page for full pricing details.
Peyronie's Disease
Peyronie’s disease causes the penis to curve or bend when erect due to the formation of fibrous scar tissue (plaque) inside the shaft. It can also cause pain during erections and contribute to erectile dysfunction. It affects approximately 1–3% of men, though many cases go unreported.
We use focused shockwave therapy to target and break down the plaque, stimulating the body’s natural repair mechanisms. Our Peyronie’s Programme (6 sessions) starts from £1,775. Early treatment — during the active phase — generally produces the best outcomes.
Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS / Prostatitis)
Chronic pelvic pain syndrome is a widespread but poorly understood condition, making it one of the most common urological diagnoses in men under 50. According to NHS guidance on prostatitis, the non-bacterial (Type III) form does not respond to antibiotics — yet antibiotic courses are still commonly prescribed. At Male Health Clinic, we address the musculoskeletal and neurological drivers of CPPS through focused shockwave therapy and pelvic floor rehabilitation.
Hard Flaccid Syndrome
Hard flaccid syndrome (HFS) is a condition where the penis remains in a semi-contracted, firm state when flaccid, rather than soft and relaxed. It is often accompanied by reduced sensation, discomfort, and loss of morning erections. HFS is not yet widely recognised within mainstream medicine, but it is a real and treatable condition. We believe in specialist assessment and targeted treatment rather than dismissal.
Pudendal Neuralgia
Pudendal neuralgia is a chronic pain condition affecting the pudendal nerve — which supplies the perineum, genitals, and anus. It causes burning, stabbing, or aching pain in the pelvic floor and is frequently misdiagnosed. We use a combination of shockwave therapy and targeted rehabilitation to address this nerve pain condition.
Prostate Cancer Rehabilitation
Men who have undergone surgery, radiotherapy, or hormone therapy for prostate cancer often experience significant side effects including erectile dysfunction, urinary incontinence, and pelvic pain. We provide specialist rehabilitation support to help men recover function and quality of life following prostate cancer treatment.
Osteitis Pubis & Coccydynia
We also treat osteitis pubis (inflammation of the pubic symphysis, common in athletes) and coccydynia (tailbone pain) — both of which can be debilitating and unresponsive to standard treatments. Focused shockwave therapy has a strong evidence base in treating these musculoskeletal conditions.
Our Primary Treatment: Focused Shockwave Therapy
Focused shockwave therapy (FSWT) is the cornerstone of treatment at Male Health Clinic. It is a non-invasive procedure that delivers precisely targeted acoustic wave energy to affected tissue, stimulating healing at the cellular level. Unlike radial (pressure wave) therapy, focused shockwave delivers energy to a specific depth within tissue — making it considerably more effective for men’s health conditions.
The use of shockwave therapy for erectile dysfunction has been evaluated by NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) and is supported by a growing body of peer-reviewed clinical evidence.
How Does Focused Shockwave Therapy Work?
Each session lasts approximately 20–30 minutes. A handheld probe is applied to the treatment area and delivers acoustic pulses at a specific energy level and frequency determined by your clinician. The treatment:
- Stimulates the formation of new blood vessels (neovascularisation)
- Promotes nerve regeneration in treated tissue
- Breaks down fibrous scar tissue (relevant for Peyronie’s disease and CPPS)
- Reduces chronic inflammation
- Activates the body’s natural tissue repair mechanisms
Treatment is delivered without anaesthetic and has no significant side effects or recovery time. Patients typically complete a programme of 6 sessions over 6 weeks, with results continuing to develop for 4–12 weeks after the programme ends.
Why Choose Male Health Clinic?
What to Expect: Your Treatment Journey
Step 1: Free Discovery Call
Not sure if we can help? Book a free, no-obligation Discovery Call with Stephen. This is an informal 15–20 minute conversation where you can describe your symptoms and ask questions. There is no pressure and no commitment.
Step 2: Initial Assessment (£275)
Your first clinical appointment is a comprehensive 60-minute assessment. Stephen will take a detailed history of your symptoms, review any relevant medical records, conduct an appropriate physical assessment, and provide a personalised treatment recommendation. You will leave with a clear understanding of what is causing your condition and what can be done about it.
Step 3: Your Treatment Programme
If treatment is appropriate, you will be offered a programme of sessions tailored to your condition. Most programmes consist of 6 sessions over 6 weeks. Sessions are typically 30–45 minutes. Between sessions, Stephen may recommend specific lifestyle adjustments or exercises to support your recovery.
Step 4: Review and Follow-Up
Following your programme, we conduct a clinical review to assess your outcomes and determine whether further sessions would be beneficial. Many patients achieve their goals within a single programme. Others choose to continue with maintenance sessions, particularly for chronic conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Male Health Clinic available on the NHS?
No. We are a private clinic and are not available on the NHS. However, many of the conditions we treat are poorly served within NHS pathways, with long waiting times and limited treatment options. For many men, private specialist treatment is the most effective — and fastest — route to recovery.
Do I need a GP referral to book an appointment?
No. You can book directly with us without a GP referral. Simply book a free Discovery Call or contact us directly to arrange an Initial Assessment.
Where is the clinic located?
We are based at 36a The Square, Beeston, Nottingham NG9 2JJ. Beeston is easily accessible from Nottingham city centre, Derby, Leicester, Sheffield, and the wider East Midlands. We treat patients from across the UK, many of whom travel specifically to see us.
Are appointments confidential?
Yes. All appointments are completely confidential. We are a private clinic and your information is handled in accordance with UK GDPR. Your GP is not informed of your attendance unless you specifically request it.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
We aim to offer Initial Assessment appointments within a few days of enquiry. Clinic hours are Monday to Friday 9am–5pm and Saturday 9am–1pm.
What makes focused shockwave therapy different from other ED treatments?
Most ED treatments — including medications such as sildenafil (Viagra) — manage symptoms rather than treating the underlying cause. Focused shockwave therapy directly stimulates vascular and nerve repair in the penile tissue, addressing the root cause of vascular ED. NICE has reviewed the evidence base and it is supported by multiple peer-reviewed clinical studies.
Can I use my private health insurance?
This depends on your insurer and policy. We recommend contacting your insurer in advance. We can provide itemised invoices and clinical summaries to support any insurance claim.
What if I’m not sure whether my condition can be treated?
Book a free Discovery Call. This is a no-obligation conversation with Stephen where you can describe your symptoms and ask questions. There is no pressure to commit to treatment.
